I’m a big fan of finding cheap boy clothes, but I won’t sacrifice quality. Luckily you don’t really have to choose one over the other.
Finding cheap boy clothes that are also high quality often means paying a little extra attention to sales and promotions. Just like food shopping, you’ll often get the best deals by pairing up a sale with a coupon… and bonus points, if you get a “cash back” promotion on top of that.
Finding Cheap Boy Clothes From Higher-End Stores
Consignment sales and shops – My first instinct is always to check the consignment shops first. I do this whether I’m shopping for myself or for my kids. You can almost always find your favorite brands on a budget by shopping this way. I’ve lucked into many higher-end brands for the kids (Janie & Jack, Gymboree, Crazy 8, Crewcuts), just by shopping consignment first.
Janie and Jack, Crewcuts and other mall stores – If you’re at a really high-end store (Janie and Jack is an example for me…), focus in on the accessories. You may not be able to find a ton of cheap boy clothes here, but I bet you’ll find some once in a while! Similar to consignment and thrift shopping, it’s the thrill of the hunt for me. I pretty much bypass the entire store and head straight to the sale racks. Focusing on the accessories (on the sale rack, of course!) is another good way to get a touch of a unique, higher-end look without breaking the budget.
Thrift stores – Don’t knock your local Goodwill or other thrift shop. The same general rules of shopping for yourself also goes for kids, when it comes to finding cheap boy clothes at the thrift stores. Go on your own so you can scour the racks to your heart’s content. Or take the kids, make a game of it and reward them with a kids’ book (for less than a quarter) on your way out.
