Baby Boys Clothes: What You Need for Your Baby Boy

Yey! You are having a baby boy! Chances are, you’ve already checked out the baby boys clothes at your local Target/Walmart/Sears, etc.

Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Don’t be!

Thankfully, boys don’t need quite as much clothing loot as baby girls do 😉 .

Here’s what I recommend you pick up when you go shopping for your baby boys clothes:

Onesies– Go ahead and get the cutesy onesies with sayings like “Mama’s Boy” and “Future President”, but also be sure to pick up a pack of white onesies. First off, a baby boy in a plain white onesie can NOT be beat for cuteness. It’s also great for layering. You’ll find when you pick up your little guy, his shirt will come up. Having a onesie underneath can cover his belly so he’s warmer.

Socks– Baby boys clothes don’t typically need to be brand specific, but I’m telling you…the ONLY socks I was ever able to keep on my babies feet were the Gap Baby Socks. Every other brand was kicked off, tugged off or just simply escaped his feet when we weren’t looking!

Comfy stretchy pants– Some baby sweatpants or just stretchy baby pants are a must. Especially when he starts really becoming mobile!

Cute elastic waist jeans– I loved my little guy in jeans, but you want soft jeans with an elastic waistband when they are this tiny.

Shirts and sweaters– I always find layering is best in baby boys clothes. You want to layer with light layers on the bottom and heavier layers on top. If I know it will be chilly…I’ll generally layer a white onesie, a shirt on top, and a sweater over that (for super cold days, of course a jacket as well!).

Overalls– Yes Yes Yes! You MUST dress your boy in overalls at least a few times. I love a little boy in overalls! I am partial to Osh Kosh overalls personally. They are durable, comfy and adorable!

Pajamas– Now, my babies generally just slept in a onesie and comfy stretchy pants, but I know some parents insist on pajamas. I’m actually NOT a fan of the nightgowns. They rode up on my babies in the middle of the night and weren’t worth the hassle of making diaper changes easier. So this is up to you!
