For the next month I will be challenging myself to stick to a meal plan. I have been in such an incredible rut lately when it comes to dinners! Honestly, it’s ridiculous. I come home with tons of food for next to nothing and yet still, I stare into my pantry as if there is nothing there.
I finally came to the realization that I just needed someone to tell me what to do! I had read about E-Mealz on another blog once before and it was given pretty good reviews. So I contacted the company and asked if I could review a meal plan and (because I’m always thinking of my lovely readers!) give away a meal plan to one of my wonderful readers.
Got my list and was very interested in the menu options. A variety of proteins, veggies and starches…variety my family badly needs! The meal plans are designed to feed 4-6. Well there are only 2 adults in our household and 2 small children, so tweaks here and there (mainly serving size related) were the only big changes I made.
My printer is being finicky lately so I shopped the list from my phone in the store. It was set up really nicely, aisle by aisle. Of course, the list is only for dinners so I had my circled up store ad along with me as well ( How I make my grocery list).
They encourage the use of coupons on their site, so I made sure I had matched up coupons to my purchases before I left the house (How to save money grocery shopping). I chose the Kroger list rather than one of the other options because I knew it was mega sale week at Kroger.
I have to say, it was kind of nice not having to think too much about my list. There were a few items that I couldn’t find (seriously my Kroger simply doesn’t have Simply Potatoes…they advertise they do but I’ve NEVER been able to find them), so I’ll be subbing here and there. I also couldn’t bring myself to buy a whole pork tenderloin when I knew we’d never eat the whole thing.
They had their whole turkeys on sale so I went ahead and grabbed a 14-lber for just $5!
My total was $68.20
So now we’ll see how this meal plan works for us! I’ll make the first dinner tomorrow night! I’m really excited.
Check back each week to see how things go, and be sure to come back a month for now to win your own subscription to E-Mealz!
I am not being compensated in any way to review E-Mealz…or even to talk about them! These are my 100% honest opinions. I have been given a one month subscription to review free of charge.
