Our #LeapReader House Party Was a Blast!

I received LeapFrog products in order to host the LeapFrog sponsored MommyParty. All opinions are my own.

I am a reader.

I am one of those people that can just fall into books and fall in love.

A good book for me can become an obsession.

I seek out book series over stand alone books simply because I know I can continue my love for the characters and watch them grow and develop even more throughout the series.

My Kindle (after my kids, husband and dog) would be on my “Grab in case of fire” list.

I’m a reader.

Now, they say you shouldn’t  push your hobbies and passions onto your children, but come on now…reading? Everyone needs to read!

Therefore, we read to (and with) our children daily.

Our son is in first grade and he enjoys reading. When he was 4, we purchased a LeapReader for him and he really loved it.

If you don’t know what a LeapReader is:

LeapReader is the complete learn-to-read-and-write solution.

LeapReader engages kids in imaginative stories with lively character voices while building vocabulary skills and growing reading comprehension skills. Interactive handwriting guidance helps children learn to write on special mess-free paper.

Plus, LeapReader helps develop listening comprehension skills with audio books. To learn more, visit www.leapfrog.com/leapreader.

This fun little interactive pen helps children take a hands on approach to learning how to read.

I really think it’s what made my son pick up reading so quickly when he entered Kindergarten last year. Now he can read books that are age appropriate like it’s no big deal.

It’s Time for a LeapReader party!

My daughter is 4 and she is in her last year of preschool.

When I found out that LeapFrog was looking for moms to hold LeapReader Ready, Set, Read & Write parties, I jumped on the chance to host a party for my daughter and her other preschool friends.

I specifically chose to have this party just for her and her preschool friends, because I wanted to show just how useful a teaching tool the LeapReader can be for children that are “pre-readers”.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great for readers too!

However, those pre-reading skills are so important! Making reading FUN before they get down to the nitty gritty of Kindergarten is a GREAT way to really grow that love and passion for reading early on.

I’ve already established how important it is for me to provide an environment where a love and a passion for reading is grown and inspired.

Therefore, having this party for the preschool kiddos just made sense!

The Party Package

The package from LeapFrog arrived and we were shocked by it’s contents!

We received:

LeapFrog knows how to throw a party!

We planned our party for a few weeks ago and we had a BLAST!

It’s Party Time!

We invited 3 of Lizzie’s closest playmates to the party. We planned the party for right after preschool so we could really focus on our preschoolers (all of us have older children who are school aged as well).

Lizzie and I had set up several stations so each child had something fun to do throughout the party.

The LeapReaders were most definitely the stars of the show though!

All of the children loved playing with the LeapReader and used it to do a variety of activities:

  • Tracing letters
  • Being read to
  • Playing interactive games
  • Songs
  • Read along
  • and more!

I also had our LeapPad out (but oops…it didn’t last long. I was so focused on charging the LeapReaders that I forgot to be sure the LeapPad had plenty of battery power), and we had a fun snack activity.

My daughter and I made popcorn balls (we recently received a popcorn ball mold to test out, it made it easy!) and put the first initial of each kids name on a popcorn ball. Then we gave the kids a cup of M&M’s and pretzel sticks so they could create their name!

It was a lot of fun.

After we finished our activities, the kids went upstairs to play in the playroom.

We had SO much fun at our LeapReader party!

Be sure to follow LeapFrog on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube so you can keep up with the latest and greatest in educational products!

We gave our extra LeapReader to my daughter’s teacher. As a pre-k 4 teacher, she was so excited to have this additional resource to prep the students for Kindergarten. LeapReaders aren’t just for at home use, you can also use them in the classroom!

What do you think?

Are you considering a LeapReader for your family or your classroom?

I encourage you to go check out the LeapFrog website. It’s honestly the best educational resource for anyone looking to grow and nurture a love of learning in their little ones.
