When I first started Family Friendly Frugality, I knew I wanted to approach frugal living from a very relaxed and welcoming mindset. I wanted to create a blog about frugal living that didn’t leave people feeling overwhelmed or less than when they walked away.
The main complaint I hear about saving money nowadays is that it is too darn overwhelming to know where to begin. If you have $20,000 in credit card debt, is clipping a few coupons realistically going to make much of an impact to your bottom line? If you are drowning in student loans and house payments, is living within your means even possible?
The answer to all of the above is yes. While the small things you do might not add up to financial freedom, they do make a big difference. Some of them will chip away at your debt or create more wiggle room in a tight budget. Some of them will simply give you more confidence and a self esteem boost, proving to yourself that you can save money!
So I am starting a Make a Change Monday series where I will simply give you one task to work on for the week. You might already be doing it…so you get to skip that week! If not though, try it out and see if it makes a difference! I’ll keep them small manageable changes that don’t require a lot of effort or learning the drugstore game .
This week’s Make A Change Task:
Share Your Savings!
The world would be pretty awful if we kept the best and most exciting parts of our lives a secret from our friends and family. That’s why I encourage you to share your savings with your loved ones! Found a great deal? Email it to some others that could benefit! Had an awesome trip to the grocery store? Post a pic on Facebook!
Not only does sharing encourage others to step up and change their overspending ways, but it also can help keep you on the straight and narrow! I know when I first started Family Friendly Frugality, it was important for me to share with others because I wanted to be sure I had some accountability for my own actions.
Did you know you can also share your great deals and steals with the entire FFF community? You can either upload a pic on the Facebook fan page with the details of your shopping trip OR you can actually submit your trip to me by emailing heather @ familyfriendlyfrugality.com. From time to time, I’d love to feature reader brags and triumphs!
Here’s one from Anna P. that she posted on Facebook!
Had to share this CVS deal!
2 bags of Starburst (2/$6)
1 pack of Huggies Slip-ons ($11.99)
1 pack of Huggies Wipes ($2.99).

1 – BOGO CVS Kiosk Q (which was $4.29)
1 – $2/1 Huggies Diapers Q
1 – $1/1 Any Huggies Q
1 – $3/1 Huggies Slip-Ons CVS Kiosk Q
1 – $4 off purchase of Huggies Diapers and Wipes
OOP Total: $4.98
oh the $4 off diapers and wipes was a kiosk coupon also. and I have to give you the credit for helping me get to this point! without your super helpful ebook and tips i don’t think I could have figured out this couponing game
You never know when you might help someone just by posting your own experiences. Since I started this blog…COUNTLESS friends and family members have begun couponing to save money. Now I’m sure not all of the credit goes to me, but if I even helped one of them? I have done a great job!
So share those deals and those shopping trips!
