Hello Family Friendly Frugalilty readers! I’m Carrie, vacation specialist with Destinations in Florida, an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, and I visit you each week here on Family Friendly Frugality to share Disney planning tips and inside information to make your trip as magical as possible. I love hanging out on here every week with you, talking about the Happiest Place on Earth!
But as we all know, Orlando is home to Universal-Orlando Resort and Islands of Adventure. I know there are many Harry Potter, Despicable Me, Transformers, and other big screen fans out there! And this summer, Universal Orlando is rolling out the new Diagon Alley-the ultimate expansion to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter including the Hogwarts Express! Planning for your trip to enjoy the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion may be different from your past visits to Universal.
Buy a Park to Park Ticket. This park to park ticket is a MUST if you want to enjoy the Hogwarts Express that runs between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. By upgrading your ticket to a park to park option, you will have unlimited access between Islands of Adventure and Universal-Orlando, and you can plan park time accordingly.
Give yourself three days at Universal Orlando. If you are adding this on to your Disney trip, you may want to consider a “split stay” between your Disney Resort and one of the fabulous Universal Resorts. The new Wizarding World of Harry Potter will have SO much to offer-you’ll need three days at least to see Universal, Islands of Adventure, and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There are going to be eight new venues at Citywalk as well-you will for sure need 3 of not 4 days at Universal-Orlando!
Take advantage of early admission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the Express Pass ticket option. When you stay at Loew’s Portofino Bay, Royal Pacific, or Hard Rock Hotel, you get early admission and the Express Pass option. At Cabana Bay, the newest resort on Universal property, you can add the Express Pass option to your tickets. With these options, you may be able to enjoy more of Universal Orlando with lower wait times.
Your Universal Orlando vacation could easily be the BEST family vacation. With the new Cabana Bay Resort, the Hogwarts Express, and so much movie fun to be had, you could easily have a 4-5 day trip to Universal Orlando Resort!
