I love shopping for clothing for my son.
Whether it’s toddler boy clothes, looking for cool boys clothes now that he’s a little older, or shopping for baby boys clothes, it’s just always been fun for me.
Why is it so much fun to shop for toddler boys clothes?
For me, there are a couple main reasons:
1. My son, like many boys, is less particular about what he wears. So he generally wears Mom’s version of cool boys clothes for just a little longer than my daughter… who, at 3 years old, is already turning her head up at my choices.
2. I love that most boys clothes are sold as true separates. They don’t often come in a matchy-matchy outfit, like toddler girls clothes do.
So what does that mean for me?
Well, it means that when I’m shopping for toddler boy clothes, I get to buy a few basic, solid-color pants or shorts that will match every.last.thing in his shirt drawer. In turn, that means fewer arguments in the morning, because he’s been choosing his own outfit (and matching) since he was a toddler. No need for my help there!
It also means that my clothing budget for him can stretch further. I don’t need — or feel compelled, at least — to buy that adorable pair of plaid shorts that will ONLY match this shirt – so they better both be clean at any given time. Of course, I’m exaggerating just a little, but honestly… not that much! Ha! The freedom from the 2-piece set has been a blessing when it comes to my son’s wardrobe.
Fewer arguments, less time spent getting dressed and a more budget-friendly approach to buying toddler boy clothes? Who can argue with that!
