Are you a coffee drinker? Have you heard of Community Coffee? Available in a large variety of flavors ( they have tea too!), Community Coffee is a delicious and affordable option (you can grab it at Sam’s Club!) for all caffeine fanatics!
Prior to having children, I did not drink coffee. First off, I thought it was gross. Second, I was scared of getting addicted.
Then I had a kid. I resisted for awhile, but eventually…I needed help! I don’t like caffeinated sodas, so coffee it was.
It’s been a few years now, and I think it is safe to say, I was right in worrying about getting addicted! However, I think this is one addiction that, at least for me, is a positive one.
A good cup of coffee perks me up, refreshes my soul and gets me ready to conquer my day (and in some cases, my afternoon pick me up cup gets me through to bedtime!). I will drink it iced, I will drink it hot, but it NEEDS to have heavy cream and some kind of sugar free flavor! I have not yet graduated to black coffee yet (and I’m not sure I ever will!)

Right now, Walmart and Pampers have teamed up to donate $200,000 to Children’s Miracle Network…and you can help!
Whether they suffer from common childhood afflictions like asthma and broken bones, or fight bigger challenges like birth defects or cancer, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids. To show support for the organization and the one in 10 kids in North America who are treated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals each year,Walmart and Pampers have teamed up to donate $200,000 in the month of June.
Additionally, by purchasing products like Pampers Swaddlers at your local Walmart, portions of the proceeds will go to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Your support helps provide 32 million patient visits for 10 million kids every year
One in 10 kids in North America is treated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals each year
Every day, member hospitals treat 16,000 children in emergency rooms
Every hour, member hospitals provide surgery for 97 children
U.S. members hospitals provided $3.4 billion in charity care in 2012
Will’s story in particular resonated with me:
Mother Frances Hospital
Quad Congenital Amputee
Age 7 (as of 11/30/14)
Will has always defied odds, starting with an all-too-rare Hanhart syndrome diagnosis before he was born. Children with this disorder often have some, but not all, of the symptoms. Will’s diagnosis affects all four of his limbs and was born without feet and with partially developed hands.
This hardly slows him down. Though doctors told Will he would never be able to run and jump without ankles, he has since proven them wrong, defying odds once again.
CMN Hospitals fully funds the Special Needs Clinic where Will receives his care. The Clinic is the only one of its kind between Dallas and Shreveport and treats more than 500 children.
The Children’s Miracle Network helps so many! I definitely wanted to help Walmart and Pampers get the word out about this promotion.
To help get the word out, Walmart is offering a $25 Walmart gift card to one lucky FFF reader.

I am a voracious reader. I will read just about anything I can get my hands on.
That doesn’t mean everything I read is awesome though ;).
The Book Thief though? Awesome!
This book is amazing. Set in the time of WWII, and narrated by Death himself, The Book Thief is about a young girl adopted by a German couple when her mother can no longer care for her.
The girl, Liesel, comes to her adoptive family illiterate and throughout the course of the story, the world of words and books is opened up to her.
Throughout the story, you see how her family deals with living in the thick of WWII Germany.
It’s not what you might think though. These are not Germans who support the war effort. In fact, they place themselves in a very precarious position that makes the story even more suspenseful and at times even more heartbreaking.
When I heard that they were creating a movie based upon this book, I was so excited!
Since I do not actually get to go to the theater very often to see “grown up movies”, I knew I was going to have to wait until the film came out on DVD.
Well thankfully, it is now available on DVD! Not only that, but Fox Home Entertainment has released a Discussion Guide to go along with the film.
You can pick up The Book Thief at any local store that sells DVD’s/Blu-Rays (Amazon has it right now).
Your Blu-Ray and/or DVD will come with the following special features:
Blu-ray Special Features
A Hidden Truth: Bringing The Book Thief To Life
DVD Special Features
Here is the official synopsis of the film:
Based on the beloved best-selling book comes an “extremely moving” (Leonard Maltin, Indiewire) story of a girl who transforms the lives of those around her during World War II, Germany. When her mother can no longer care for her, Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) is adopted by a German couple (OSCAR® Winner Geoffrey Rush* and OSCAR® Nominee Emily Watson**). Although she arrives illiterate, Liesel is encouraged to learn to read by her adoptive father. When the couple then takes in Max (Ben Schnetzer), a Jew hiding from Hitler’s army, Liesel befriends him. Ultimately, words and imagination provide the friends with an escape from the events unfolding around them in this extraordinary, acclaimed film directed by Brian Percival (Downton Abbey).

This giveaway is over, please read the review to learn more about the new CrossRoads menu from House of Blues!!!
The winner is firstname.lastname@example.org
We recently took a fun Spring Break vacation across the bottom half of the country. We roadtripped from Houston to Destin and from Destin to Orlando.
Our ultimate goal was Disney, but our first stop was actually a super famous restaurant in the fun filled Downtown Disney area (accessible to the public without a paid ticket).
House of Blues!
When was the last time you visited a House of Blues?
I’ll admit, I have never been!
When I received an email recently about the new menu at House of Blues, Crossroads by celebrity chef Aaron Sanchez, I knew I wanted to check it out. I had watched Aaron Sanchez on Food Network and was always impressed by him.
Like the diverse music that graces the House of Blues stage each night, Sanchez has used his imaginative take on classic American dishes to create something for everyone, with over 10 choices for seafood lovers, a dozen different entrees, 4 signature burgers, vegetarian options and of course classic southern favorites to make your taste buds sing!
Crossroads at House of Blues is truly the place where food, music and art intersect. Relax and enjoy great tunes while sampling new Hand-Stretched Flatbread Pizzas, or settle down with something more sumptuous, like Lobster Mac & Cheese or Jambalaya! Sanchez gives veggie lovers reason to rejoice too – you won’t find sad salads under his watch! Sample cheesy Street Tacos or Portobello sliders – just two of the delicious vegetarian options on the new menu.
We arrived at Downtown Disney just 30 minutes before our reservation via a Disney Resort shuttle bus. House of Blues is all the way at the other end of Disney, so we had to quickly run to the restaurant to make our reservation. We made it with time to spare and the staff was super accommodating about getting my kiddos something to drink quickly!
Our waitress was amazing. She was knowledgeable about the menu and seemed to love her job! The manager also came by our table and we chatted about the Houston House of Blues location for a bit, which we definitely want to check out soon!
Now onto the food, because I know that’s what you want to know about!
First, for an appetizer. We are from Texas and the Street Tacos immediately intrigued us.
Let me tell you…best tacos I’ve ever had. We shared, but I could have easily eaten all 3 all by myself. The crunchiness of the cabbage in the tacos just put the whole flavor wheel over the top!
Our entrees took a bit more thought. There were so many great items on the menu and we wanted to try them all. We ended up going with our wonderful waitress’s recommendations and ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Juicy Lucy.
Unbelievable. That burger was so amazingly juicy and delicious!
The kids got in on the action as well. My son ordered a cheeseburger (he inhaled that thing!) and my daughter had her very own kids cheese pizza! I had a bit of each of their meals and they were great.
For dessert, the kids each received a sundae with their meal. My husband and I decided to share the Triple Chocolate Cheesecake…it was intense and delicious! Did you know House of Blues has locations all over the country?

I don’t know about you, but I actually put a lot of thought into getting my kiddos something special for Valentine’s Day!
To me, it’s not just a day to show romantic love, but also to just show love to the people that matter most to you.
For me, that definitely includes my kiddos!
Here are some stats on Valentine’s Day:
Almost all (92%) of Americans agree that Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romance – it’s about showing people you care about them.
82% believe the holiday is more about love than just spending money.
Americans prefer to give Valentines (73%) versus receive them (27%).
Americans prefer to be gifted with experiences (82%), versus more tangible gifts (18%).
A personalized gift (64%) is preferred to a handmade (22%), or expensive gift (8%).

Build-A-Bear Workshop® actually shared these statistics with me*, and to be honest, it doesn’t really surprise me!
Especially the part about giving Valentine’s over receiving. I LOVE to give gifts! Especially to my children and my husband.

When I first started this site several years ago, I never dreamed it would be anything more then a place to direct my family and friends who wanted to learn more about couponing.
I did not have big ambitious goals for the site and to be entirely honest I’m not sure I even had the slightest inkling as to what I was really getting myself into.
Somehow, here we are though.
A BIG milestone was hit the other day.
Social media #’s can be considered “vanity numbers” and I’m the first to admit that a small small percentage of my “likes” on Facebook actually see any given update that I post.
50,000 likes though…that has to be celebrated!
Within that 50,000 likes are those first 10-20-100 that liked my page in those early early days and that have stuck around for years now.
Within that 50,000 likes are friends. Real life friends and family who support me and lift me up even if what I do isn’t something that they really have a passion for. They follow my site to support me and I can’t tell you what that means to me.
Within that 50,000 likes are new friends. People that I only know via the internet, but who are just as near and dear to me as the friend I can sit down with coffee with in my kitchen.
50,000 likes…THANK YOU!
As a BIG thank you for being one of my 50,000 likes…I am going to give away a $100 Amazon gift card to one lucky Facebook fan.
To enter is easy.
As with ALL of my giveaways, make sure you are a confirmed email subscriber (subscribe here and be sure you hit the confirm link that is sent to your email address).
This giveaway will go until 2/25. I will pick a winner (after verifying they are both a Facebook fan and a confirmed email subscriber) and contact them to email their $100 Amazon e-giftcard.
This giveaway comes out of my own pocket and is not sponsored by Facebook OR Amazon. It is my small way of thanking all of you for being a part of the Family Friendly Frugality community. Without you, 50K likes would never have happened.
