My daughter needed sneakers badly. When we were back to school shopping, she only picked out “fashion” shoes (her words!) and no sneakers! Well, she quickly grew out of her sneakers from last year so we needed to get her a new pair.

Stride Rite contacted me and offered to send a pair for us to try out. I was a bit concerned, because Lizzie is at that age where a lot of clothing/shoes/etc “bodder” her (bother, LOL). Enter to Win FREE Admission to Wings Over Houston: A Family Friendly Event

For the past 18 years, I have lived within spitting distance (well…just about) of Ellington Field in Houston Texas.

I can still remember the first day I learned about the very popular annual air show (Wings Over Houston).

I was out shopping with my aunt at one of the nearby outdoor shopping centers when all of a sudden I heard a buzz of activity in the sky.

I looked up and was shocked and amazed to see TONS of airplanes in the sky above my head.

Not just any airplanes…military planes.

I’ll admit…I was terrified! I thought we were at war!

My aunt explained it was just the air show, and watching the air show from afar has just become a fact of my life every year!

This year will be the first year we take our children to the air show “properly” (we’ve always just gone to a nearby playground to watch, but I KNOW we definitely weren’t getting the full effect of how awesome it is from there!). I am SO excited!

This year the Wings Over Houston airshow is on October 26-27th.

I’ve been looking up the schedule, pictures and videos from the airshow and I know my kiddos will have a blast.

Here are some of the things I’m most looking forward to:

I think my kids will be most excited to see Dusty from Planes! We haven’t seen the movie yet, but they know who Dusty is and I think they’ll be so excited!

Did you know that out of all the chain restaurants evaluated by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) there is only ONE restaurant and menu that fulfilled the criteria for nutritious kids’ meals?

This was an investigation into the top 50 restaurants and Subway came out on top!

Here is some more information gleaned from the study:

CSPI found that fried chicken fingers, burgers and French fries continue to dominate the kids’ meals landscape, with 97 percent of the nearly 3,500 meal possibilities not meeting CSPI’s nutrition criteria.

All of SUBWAY® restaurant’s eight children’s meals, which include a 4” sub, apple slices and low-fat milk or bottled water, amount to less than 430 calories, less than 35% fat, 0 % trans fat, 35% added sugars and 770 mg of sodium, and meet both the expert and industry nutrition standards (CSPI’s and the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell Nutrition Standards).

SUBWAY FRESH FIT FOR KIDS™ meals have been approved by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), with whomSUBWAY® restaurants has partnered to help fight childhood obesity.

Recently we headed over to Subway to have a great family meal. Both of our children ordered a SUBWAY FRESH FIT FOR KIDS^{TM meal and they loved it!}

Arielle’s Den Review and Giveaway: Win 3 Beautiful Hair Clips

I started putting bows and hair ties in my daughter’s hair from the minute she had enough hair to make a tiny little antennae ponytail!

Lizzie LOVES wearing bows and hair ties now, and I really think it’s because we started so early.

We love ’em all.

Big bows, small bows, crazy bows, tiny barrettes, etc.

We’ve never tried bows quite like these though! I think we’re sold!

Arielle’s Den makes adorable boutique hair bows, clips and headbands and we were lucky enough to score a few to review!

First off, we have the lovely Aurora! I just love how crafty people can get with ribbon. I always joke that I could sew a gorgeous gown with lace and elaborate buttons, but ask me to make a simple bow and I hot glue the ribbon to my forehead.

This bow is just so pretty! It’s on an easy to use clip and it looks great in Lizzie’s hair.

Next up we have probably Lizzie’s favorite princess right now…Rapunzel!

I love how the long hair isn’t just left flowing (I’d be nervous about the ribbon fraying!). It’s such a pretty little clip and it’s very clear it’s Rapunzel!

The three rosette clip is just precious. The clip is actually fairly small, so your little girl does not need a ton of hair to hold it in place. I like that it’s something a bit different from our usual big ol’ Texas bows. It’s very pretty and makes a big statement!
