Quit An Expensive Habit
Habits. We all have them.
Some are good.
Like brushing our teeth.
Some are very very bad.
Liking smoking cigarettes.

Often times those bad habits cost us money, too much money to be spending on something that takes away from our quality (and in some cases quantity!) of life.
This week, find a habit that is costing you money and cut it out. If it’s possible, go cold turkey. If that could be detrimental to your health, than start working on a way to wean off of it.

Some examples of expensive habits that could easily save big money if they were elimated:
- Daily coffee or soft drinks runs through the drive-thru
- Smoking
- Drinking alcohol
- Renting movies too often
- Going out to eat too often
- Shopping too often
Some of these habits aren’t necessarily “bad” all on their own, but if they are wreaking havoc on your budget, they need to be eliminated.
I will just go ahead and share one of mine, it’s the habit that drives my husband the MOST crazy! Food waste!
I will buy a ton of food at the grocery store, and often at least several items will go to waste. It’s so disappointing and I can physically count the dollars lost as I toss away the rotted fruit/vegetables/expired whatever into the trash can. It’s a bad habit!

Ways I can try to combat food waste:
- Make a LIST before I go to the store.
- Meal Plan
- Buy frozen veggies/fruits wherever possible, because those last a lot longer!
- Have a “clean out the fridge/pantry” night to use up all the last little bits of everything we have lingering before I grocery shop again!
- Most importantly, be realistic about my time and the effort I will need to put into recipes each week and don’t overload our already busy schedule with complicated recipes that have a million ingredients we don’t typically keep on hand!
This week, pick something that isn’t making your life better and just cut it out! Make a list like I did!
This is a fabulous idea and shows you really care! 😀 It does work although I suggest limiting the bad habit such as renting movies less often or having one coffee etc
