My kids have had yucky noses all week long. They’d start looking better and go to sleep and wake up worse. Tonight I went out for a MUCH needed girls night with my friends. Had a blast and was sad to leave. When I got in the car, I quickly checked my phone and saw that I had not one…not two…but several phone calls and messages from the Mr. saying that my boy was crying for me and saying he was hot (fever) and his ear hurt (the dreaded ear infection).
This is the FIRST time I haven’t been there for one of my kids when they’ve woken up sick and let me tell you…the Mama Guilt is crushing me.
My baby was CRYING for me and I wasn’t here! Not just any baby…my baby that PREFERS Daddy 9 times out of 10.
I’m not going to apologize for having fun, but…
Came home and gave him medicine and got him back to sleep and my girl woke up crying out for me (just last night we were bragging to each other how our kids NEVER wake up after we put them down for the night…Karma?). Daddy went in to rock her, but after he put her back down…she cried out for me. So I went in and rocked her and held her.
I looked down at that little tiny girl…soft halo of baby curls surrounding her face with a sweet sweet binky smile, and thought “This is all just going too fast, it needs to slow down”.
I don’t have time for Mama Guilt. Tomorrow I’ll take the kids to the doctor, make it a “whatever they want” TV day and just cuddle. There’s too much in this world to feel bad about without adding Mama Guilt. I need to be a Guilt Free Mom. Do those exist? Probably not, but we’d enjoy the “now” a lot more if we let go of the guilt…that I am sure of.
Have a GREAT day!

I agree! I ahve spent so many days worrying about what I didn't do right….I lost so much preciuos time! Hope they feel better soon!
Thanks Joyce! I hope they do too! It's quiet here now, so I should probably go to sleep! No telling what the night will be like!
Hugs to you – mommy guilt is tough but remember that you need to charge your own batteries to be a good mommy – hope the doc can give you something to help the kids and that they are back to normal soon!
