Every Saturday morning, without fail, several of my mom friends will post that they are at the ball field/swimming pool/track bright and early for a day of team sports.
9 times out of 10 they are there for hours and hours.
My kids are 3 and 5, but I have to admit…I’m a bit worried!
Spending my entire Saturday at the baseball field in the middle of May in Texas sounds absolutely miserable. Except, these parents never seem unhappy or frustrated at all. In fact, they are excited and full of team spirit! These moms inspire me!
I hope when it’s my turn to spend 10 hours straight at the ball field that I’ll be just as excited and just as devoted to the team effort as these inspiring moms are!
This brings to mind Olympic athletes though. Training for the Olympics is a vastly different ballgame!
Training takes over the lives of the entire family. Yet you rarely hear an Olympian (or their families) complain. Their dedication and their enthusiasm to represent their country in the Olympic Games is so inspiring. Not just the dedication of the Olympian (although they certainly deserve the accolades they receive!), but also the dedication of the family. Most notably…the moms!
I’d love for you to check out this amazing 2 minute short film directed by renowned film director Alejandro González Iñárritu. It celebrates the lives of mothers and young athletes in four major Olympic cities: Los Angeles, Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro.
Now that’s commitment!
Could you be an Olympic Mom?
