The Anatomy of a Deal Scenario

Yesterday I posted a deal that was the source of MUCH confusion for FFF readers.

Honestly, I was kind of surprised by this because it was such a simple/straight forward deal!

However, it made me realize that maybe it was time for an “Anatomy of a Deal Scenario” refresher!

I’ll use the deal that caused all the hoopla yesterday:

Now this deal is very simple/straightforward in comparison to a deal like this one from CVS which involves ECB’s, and this one that involves a coupon and Target Cartwheel or a complicated deal scenario that involves rolling ECB’s at CVS or my goodness…this complicated scenario at Target for Dove Deodorant.

Up top you have the product and the price.

Then you have what coupon/coupons you need to use.

Finally you have your total.

Some of the confusion yesterday centered around WHERE to find the coupon.

This was the verbiage on the deal: Use new $1/1 Crayola Broad Line or Fine Line Markers 4/6 RP

Breaking this down…this coupon was in the 4/6 Red Plum insert.

That means you would have had to purchase a newspaper on 4/6 that had a Red Plum insert in it.

This deal did NOT have a printable coupon. A printable coupon will have a link…in this case there was no link, because the coupon was not available for printing. The telltale sign that this was not a printable coupon (besides the absence of the link), was the date and the abbreviation RP for Red Plum.

Finally, the most important way to get all the information you need about a deal is to read the deal from start to finish.

If something is confusing, be sure to check out my Coupon 101 series to see if you can find the answer to your question:

Remember that prices can vary and this blog is nationwide. You might go to the store and find a different price than what I posted.

Coupon values can vary based on region. We try our best to bring the best deals to the FFF readers, but sometimes not all deals are applicable for all readers/all regions. Please just pass those up and go on to the next one. Don’t be discouraged!

My Target RARELY has the low prices I post here on the site. It is in a more affluent portion of our city and they just know people will pay  more. But I still post the deals because if others can take advantage of them, it’s SO worth it!

I hope this helps with the anatomy of a deal scenario. If you have any questions, please comment below!

  1. Ok so I use the kcl app to find the deals, the scenarios seem simple enough but my math is often slightly off from theirs and I can’t figure out why?
