So far this week, I have posted my recipe for Buffalo Chicken Cheesy Nachos and Mini Stuffed Baked Potato bites. I am of the firm belief there should always be SOMETHING healthy available at any get together though, so today’s recipe is going to help you get some of your fruit servings in.

This “recipe” isn’t really a recipe though.

Mainly it’s just a colorful cup full of yummy fresh fruit!

I was inspired by some cute rainbow fruit skewers I found on Pinterest.

It wasn’t working out well on the skewers and I had some clear glass plastic cups left over from this strawberry shortcake recipe, so I decided to layer the fruit instead.

I cut all the fruit bite sized (except the grapes…I did not cut the grapes) and layered it into the glass in this order:

  • purple grapes
  • blueberries
  • green grapes
  • melon
  • pineapple
  • strawberries (on top!)

I actually made these for my daughter’s birthday party and believe it or not, they were the first thing gone!

They were so colorful and fun. They’d give a great pop of color and a bit of healthy to an otherwise not so healthy appetizer spread!

  1. Our daughter’s birthdays are September & May. I liked being able to take advantage of fresh fruit in season, offering a fresh fruit cup for their birthday treat for their class/sports team.

  2. Could you please share how many ounces were the plastic cups used for the fruit cups. I want to replicate but don’t know if I should get 4oz or 5.5. My daughter’s party is next week so would love your reply soon. Thx!

    1. I’m pretty sure they were 4 oz? I’ve actually used various sizes, but I *think* the ones I took pictures of for this occasion were 4 oz and I am pretty sure I got them at party city. Good luck! Hope that helps!

  3. This is such a cute idea! I plan to make these for my daughter’s birthday party next weekend. Did the kids eat the fruit with forks or with their fingers?

    1. I put 2 frilly toothpicks in each cup so they could make a choice to use fingers or the toothpick.

  4. How many cups were you able to fill? I plan on getting bulk of each fruit from Costco so I’m hoping I can make a lot. I want to make these cups for my drive through baby shower
